LEGO Ventures about Fortnite: the project may become the “first strong metaverse” where people come to chat and relax
Share
Rob Lowe, head of marketing at LEGO Ventures, said Fortnite’s influence on the gaming industry indicates the potential for action to become "the first solid metaverse."
LEGO Ventures is one of the divisions of the LEGO Group, investing in entrepreneurs, ideas and startups that are at the intersection of creativity, training and games. Rob Lowe also argues that the concept of the metaverse in digital media is thus what is of particular interest to the company.
“We see Fortnite taking a pretty good step towards creating the first solid metaverse where people can play, watch, share and chat together,” - Lowe told at Gamesindustry.biz Investment Summit Online last week.
“There will be others, and this idea of a hybrid social platform, a gaming platform, a creative platform is something that we are extremely interested in being involved through investments and partnerships.”
Recall that in Fortnite there were several concerts of real stars, such as Travis Scott and Marshmello. They collected a huge number of views, not only within the game itself, but also through event recordings on YouTube.
