Hogwarts replica built of 400,000 LEGO® blocks in one year!

LEGO® craftswoman Alice Finch spent more than 12 months assembling an impressive model of the Hogwarts magic school from the worldwide famous Harry Potter movie series. The model includes both fully furnished and inhabited interiors.

Of course, LEGO® releases official sets dedicated to Harry Potter, but this was not enough for the master Alice Finch. Although the mother of two children understands why the Danish company produces sets in which only one side is finished and can be refined from the other side, she wanted to build her own version, which would be correct from the point of view of the architecture. Alice wanted her building to have 4 walls and a roof, and also that the scale of the building coincided with the scale of LEGO® minifigures. She visited many places in Oxford where some movie scenes were filmed, so she had some idea how things should look. However, Alice did a thorough research before creating LEGO® Hogwarts: she checked books of JK Rowling, watched all the Harry Potter movies, and even visited the studio where Harry Potter was shot to look closely at the scenery used in the film. Often, the details of the book and the movies did not match, so she chose what was best suited for her purpose. Ultimately, after 12 months of carefully assembling a monumental model of 400,000 LEGO® plates, Alice Finch created the dream of every Harry Potter fan — her own Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

At Lego's BrickCon exhibition last year, Alice Finch won the Audience Award and Best of Show awards for her incredible replica of Hogwarts, but the official online presentation of the 400,000-piece model took place only a few months later. The delay was due to the fact that Alice took five months to re-assemble this masterpiece at her home in Seattle, after which she was finally able to take a picture of Hogwarts and post it on the Internet. In addition to her main goal - the creation of her own school from the Harry Potter universe, Alice wanted her two sons to play with the rooms where all the events from the book and movie take place. Her eldest son is already inventing his own adventures in this fantastic game set. The younger son cannot read books yet, but when he grows up, he will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Harry Potter without leaving the house.

Although Alice does not know exactly how much money was spent on the construction of LEGO® Hogwarts, she says she ordered thousands of building bricks and parts from around the world.
