The company launched the Lego World Builder platform, where anyone can suggest a new character, story or project.
Now Lego fans can make their wildest dreams come true. The company launched the Lego World Builder platform where it will collect community ideas. Users will be able to share illustrations, suggest new characters and storylines, and even develop their own original worlds. The creative Lego team will oversee and provide feedback. For the best concepts that the team selects or purchases, their creators will receive money.
The platform was created by Tongal, a company that deals with solutions for creators and also links them with brands and studios.
A Lego spokesman told the Wall Street Journal that up to $500,000 annually will be allocated to reward Lego World Builder authors, at least for the next three years. The company will pay $10,000 for piloting the idea, and $50,000 for the purchase of a finished concept.
Users' interest in the development of Lego worlds is evidenced, for example, by the Wattpad platform. There, fanfic writers have posted hundreds of stories related to the Ninjago franchise. Wattpad not only provides a publishing platform, but it also helps some creators reach out to publishing houses and media companies if they want to release a book or adaptation.
The advantage of the Lego World Builder is that users will have direct contact with the brand's team. As a result, the proposed idea will have a better chance of being implemented. For example, in the form of a YouTube show. In addition, the platform will save the company from the risk of being sued for illegal use of the intellectual property.
