To commemorate the release of the new, 18-deck 152-ton World Dream cruise ship, the Hong Kong-based travel company Dream Cruises decided to build the largest model of the ship with LEGO® bricks.
Volunteers from all over the world have helped to build a large-scale LEGO-ship as part of the #TogetherWeBuildDreams campaign, organized by Dream Cruises.
Built of more than 2.5 million LEGO® bricks, the model of the ship weighs more than 2800 kg, reaching 8.44 m in length, 1.33 in width and 1.53 meters in height.
The giant model of the ship was built with the participation of more than 1,000 guests of the cruise line and members of the public who were helped by the first LEGO® certified specialist in China, Andy Hung.
After two months of persistent efforts, the largest cruise ship made of LEGO® was represented at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal.
Kent Zhu, President of Genting Cruise Lines, said: "We are celebrating the first success achieved by World Dream - setting a new world record and getting into the Guinness Book of Records, an honor we share with all cruise lovers from around the world who have joined to us when we made this dream come true. "
After the final measurement, an attempt to establish a new world record was declared successful, and the company was presented with an official certificate from the Guinness Book of Records confirming this fact.
It is not the first time that a huge ship model has been made from LEGO®. In 2016, employees of the Danish company DFDS A/S, which provides transportation services, built the world's largest sea ship with LEGO® bricks with a length of 12,035 meters (the record is not yet broken).
