An exact copy of the new Land Rover Defender made of LEGO®

The new Land Rover Defender 2020 has been presented at Frankfurt Motor Show as well as his “twin” brother made of LEGO®.

Actually, the new Land Rover Defender 2020 Technic set has leaked a while ago, but now it is officially confirmed!

The British company has teamed up with the well-known manufacturer, thereby creating composite model of 90th Defender version with short wheelbase.

The detailed set, on the packaging of which is written "an automobile icon that you can build at home", consists of 2573 parts, and the estimated cost of the set will be $199 USD.

While the real Defender is offered in a wide range of body colours, its smaller copy is made only in olive green. The dimensions of the assembled vehicle are quite large: 420 mm in length, 220 mm in height and 200 mm wide. At the same time, the “package” of an SUV includes options that are not basic for a real Defender: a winch on the front bumper, a roof rack and a side staircase.

Cool thing that the creators of the LEGO® set accurately reflected elements of an all-wheel drive system with three differentials and a completely independent suspension in their toy, as well as all the distinctive features of a five-seater interior of the SUV.

According to Niels Henrik Horsted, marketing director of the Danish toy company, the LEGO® elements are designed so that children can show their imagination and experiment: “Our new set will allow you to create everything you can imagine, so it will take its rightful place in the Technic line-up, which already has the Volkswagen Beetle, Type 2, Mini, Aston Martin DB5 and Routemaster Bus. I am very excited about this new model - a truly impressive work done by our LEGO® Group designers!”

Horsted also said that working with Land Rover helped bring together elements, innovative designs, putting them together in a set that demonstrates LEGO's unlimited creativity.

Recall that the launch of the new Defender may become one of the most important pages in the history of the British company, which unexpectedly returned to using its famous brand.

A model with a 70-year history was “retired” in 2016, and today it is returning to the market triumphantly, offering not only a new look, but also a completely different platform. Which one - the new LEGO® set will tell you, which will appear in stores in the very near future!
